The Modern Language Review is the only periodical published in this country which is specially devoted to scholarship and research in Medieval and Modern languages and literature, and, as a necessary auxiliary to academical study, it claims the support of all those who are interested in these subjects. Attention is also called to the fact that English language and literature are receiving a very large share of space in the journal.

The contents of the Review vary according to the nature of the contributions received, but they may be classified generally under the following heads:

I. ORIGINAL ARTICLES, embodying the results of research or criticism in English and the modern Continental languages and litera

tures.

II. TEXTS AND DOCUMENTS, hitherto unprinted.

III.

IV.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES AND DISCUSSIONS.

REVIEWS AND MINOR NOTICES of Books, the longer reviews, at least, being signed.

V. NOTES on matters of literary and scientific interest, of forthcoming publications, etc.

VI. Classified Bibliography of NEW PUBLICATIONS.

The collaboration of all interested in linguistic and literary research is invited, and contributors are not restricted to the English language. Contributors will receive six copies of Articles and Notes free. Additional copies and copies of Reviews may be had at cost price: communications respecting these (which should be ordered when the proof is returned) should be addressed to the University Press, Cambridge.

The annual subscription (for four numbers appearing in January, April, July and October) is 25s. net, post free, payable in advance, single numbers costing 7s. net. This subscription may be sent to any bookseller, or to Mr C. F. Clay, Cambridge University Press, Fetter Lane, London, E.C. 4. The Journal will be supplied (post free) to all members

of the Modern Language Association, the Modern Humanities Research Association and the Modern Language Association of America at a special annual subscription, which must be paid in advance, of 15s. ($3.75). Members' subscriptions should be paid through the Secretary or Treasurer of their Association.

Editorial communications of a general kind and contributions relating especially to German should be addressed to the General Editor, Prof. J. G. Volumes I to XIII of the Review may be obtained from the Cambridge University Press, London, or through any bookseller, at the following prices:

Volumes I, II and III (1905-8). Each in four numbers, paper covers, 88. net per volume. Single numbers from these volumes, 2s. 6d. net each.

Volumes IV to XII (1908-17). Each in four numbers, paper covers, 12s. 6d. net per volume. Single numbers from these volumes, 48. net each.

Volumes XIII (1918) and XIV (1919). In four numbers, paper covers, 158. net. Single numbers from these volumes, 5s. net.

Quotations can be given for buckram binding cases and for binding subscribers' sets, also for bound copies of back volumes.
