MASS. INTROIT. Gen. xxviii. HIS is an awful place : here is the house of God, and the gate of heaven and it shall be called the palace of God. Ps. How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul earnestly desires, and faints after the courts of the Lord. V. Glory.

Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house; because he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

And the Angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: Blessed art thou among women. Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the Angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus. Expl. Butter and honey, or rather cream and honey, was the first food given to children; and the meaning is, that Christ should be as really Man, as he was God, the true Emmanuel, or the Person, in whom the divine nature should be united to that of

man.
