Henry R. Nash, '97, variously styled as "The Tufts Strong Man," and "The College Hill Samson," at a physical examination held June II in the "Gym.," established a new strength record far above his old one, and exceeding Harvard's by over 440 pounds. As the competition arranged for between representatives of the different colleges did not come to pass, Nash tried alone to establish a new record. But for an accident to the apparatus, the mark reached would surely have been surpassed. In the leg test Nash gave a mighty heave, and the handle of the machine, a piece of solid white oak, was snapped like a pipe-stem. The mark could not be ascertained, and an inferior lift

made some time ago was credited to him. Some of the results are, weight, 171 pounds; lung capacity, 280 cubic inches; strength of back, 732 pounds; strength of legs, 1,254 pounds; number of dips, 50; number of pulls, 29; total strength, 354,772 pounds.

Dunham will enter upon journalistic work, and Fobes, Ricketts, Sheldon, and Lynde will take up a business career. Some faces will be seen on the Hill next year: Eaton, at the Divinity School; Winslow, who will continue work in biology, and Larrabee. George, Page, Johnston, and Ireland will take up engineering. The Divinity School men will all occupy pulpits next year: Blair, at Hinsdale, New Hampshire; Cardall, in Michigan; Cobb, at East Montpelier, Vermont; Smith, at Annisquam; Tillinghast, at Providence, Rhode Island; Wells, at Felchville, Vermont; Butler, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
