HAWKSTONE PARK, for centuries the residence and birth-place of the Family of the name of HILL, is as remarkable for its natural and artificial beauties, as the family who inherit it are celebrated for their patriotism, hospitality, and private virtues.

The scenery surrounding the Mansion has long been an alluring object to the admirers of Nature, and to persons of Taste and Cu

riosity; and the Mansion itself has recently been enlarged and decorated in such excellent taste by the present Proprietor, as to become an additional attraction to the multitude of natural beauties which have induced visitors to Hawkstone Park from every quarter of the World.

THE HALL

Is situated on the north side of the Hill which traverses the Park, and contains many of its chief attractions. The old Mansion, erected some centuries ago, was much enlarged by Sir Richard Hill, Bart. uncle to the present possessor, who marked the piety of his own character, and of his family, by erecting the Chapel. The New Hall contains the greater part of the old building within its walls, many rooms remaining entirely the same, with additions to others, aud new erections, of very great convenience and splendour. Hawkstone Hall occupies three sides of a square. The grand entrance in the centre is approached by a flight of steps leading through a noble portico (supported by four Corinthian pillars, with sphinxes between), which introduces the Visitor to the Entrance Hall, adorned with ancient and modern armour, much of it collected on the Field of Waterloo. The Morning-Room leads hence to a BilliardRoom, both elegant apartments, the latter
