The "woman's question" is fast becoming the question of the day. Our countrywomen have not, like their sisters across the Atlantic, taken any steps to bring the grievances, real or imaginary, of their position prominently before the public; but events havn been stronger than human will; and whether we like it or not, the position, the privileges, the duties and responsibilities of women in society every year assume a more distinct shape, and compel from women and men alike an attention to the subject.

For the discussion of these interesting questions, the LADY’s. NEWSPAPER offers a fitting medium. Now, if ever, ladies should have a newspaper devoted to their interests, and they would find their interest in supporting it. Impressed with the conviction that this will be the case, the Proprietors of the Lady's NEWSPAPER have recently improved and enlarged it to a considerable extent, and have so conducted it as to keep pace with the spirit of the times. They are happy to say that their efforts have already been rewarded with a success exceeding their most sanguine expectations. Week by week they are cheered with the best and most substantial testimony to their exertions which the conductors of a public Journal can have in the constant accession to their Subscribers which they receive.

To make room for the illustrations with which it is profusely adorned, and at the same time to allow for the discussion of topics in which ladies may be expected to take an interest, they have recently added a Supplement of four pages, without any addition to the price. The illustrations of the Fashions are directly obtained from the fountain-head of that capital of the world's fashion, Paris; the Work-Table is an unique feature in its pages, the designs being so arranged that any lady may work from the elegant and original patterns there selected; while portraits of distinguished men and women, views of remarkable edifices or places, and sketches of passing events whether at home or abroad, are all from firstclass artists, and may challenge comparison with those of any other publication. In the other departments of the Paper, Literature, Music, and the Fine Arts receive a large share of notice; a weekly Paris Letter pleasantly describes the chit-chat of that capital; while there is that amount of political information which no lady mixing in the society of gentlemen in this free and happy country can be without.

Encouraged by the flattering appreciation of their efforts, the Proprietors of the Lady's NEWSPAPER have resolved, in the year that is about to commence, to put forth still farther efforts to render this the only Lady's Newspaper, still more worthy of the patronage of British Ladies at home, and in the numerous colonies and dependencies of England, where, we are glad to say, its transcripts of home scenes, its reminder of home affections, and its recurrence to home employments, render it every month a more welcome visitant.

IRELAND AND THE REVIVAL WORK. THE COMMITTEE of the IRISH EVANGELICAL SOCIETY have engaged SIX MINISTERS to help, principally, in the spheres where the Revival work has rendered such assistance necessary in Ireland. Others have gone, through their influence and arrangement, though not supported by their funds. It is manifest that such an increase of men, whose heart is in the service, will be required for permanent labour in opening stations where the harvest truly is plenteous and the husbandmen are few. But contributions to a much larger extent are yet required to sustain the Society in these operations and to strengthen its Missions. The Committee anticipate demands on their resources far beyond their regular income, and they entreat the liberality of all who would rejoice in the evangelization of Ireland.
