Isa. xliii, 27, 28. Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me. Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches. Ezek. xxviii, 15. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Jer. vi, 7. As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her, before me continually is grief and wounds. Rom. vill, 7, 8. Because the carual mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 1 Cor. ii, 14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Gal. v, 17. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Eph. iv, 18. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. Titus fil, 8. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. UNIVERSAL. Gen. vi, 11, 12 The earth also was corrupt before God; and the Hosea vi, 7. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. HUMAN DEPRAVITY. GREAT. Gen. vi, 5. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Deut. xxxii, 5. They have corrupted themselves; their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation And God looked upon the earth, all flesh had corrupted his way and, behold, it was corrupt: for upon the earth. that doeth good. Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD. Micah vil, 2, 4. The good man is perished out of the earth; and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood, they hunt every man his brother with a net. The best of them is as a brier; the most upright is sharper than a thorn-hedge; the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity. are we better than they? No, in no Rom. ili, 9-12.18-20. And were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Ps. v, 9. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Ps. Iv, 10, 11. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. Prov. vi, 16-19. Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one, that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of sea also shall be taken the away. disobedient to parents. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the king dom of God. 1 Tim. 1, 9, 10. Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for men-stealers, if there be any other thing that is for liars, for perjured persons, and contrary to sound doctrine. WILFUL VIOLATIONS OF GOD'S LAW. ber, and forget not, how thou Deut. ix, 7, 8, 13, 22-24. Remem provokest the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of Rom. i, 28-32. Furthermore the LORD etousness, maliciousness; full of spake unto me, saying, I have envy, murder, debate, deceit, ma-seen this people, and, behold, it is lignity; whisperers, Backbiters, a stiff-necked people: And at haters of God, despiteful, proud, Taberah, and at Massah, and at boasters inventors of evil things, Kibroti-hattaavah, ye provoked Isa. v, 18-20. Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart-rope: That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it! Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! This is the rest wherewith ye may Isa. xxviii, 12. To whom he said, cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. Jer. ii, 5. Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest, Jer. vi, 16, 17. Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
