DIVINATION.

MAGIC AND SORCERY.

And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river: and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

Exod. viii, 7, 18, 19. And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man and upon beast. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them;

as the LORD had said.

Exod. 1x, 11. And the magicians

could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

Acts viii, 9-11. But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: ΤΟ whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. Acts xiii, 6, 8. And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Exod. xxii, 20. He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
