a Behold, what manner of Love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called, the Sons of God; and if Sons, then Heirs, Heirs of God, and Joint-Heirs with Chrift. Now are we the Sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know, that when he fhall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall fee him as he is; and with open Face beholding, as in a Glafs, the Glory of the Lord, fhall be changed into the fame Image, from Glory to Glory.

b All things are to be counted but Lofs, and Dung, that we may win Chrift: for to die, and to be with Chrift, is Gain.

c Who shall separate us from the Love of God? fhall Tribulation, or Diftrefs, or Perfecution, or Famine, or Nakedness, or Peril, or Sword? nay, in all these things we are more than Conquerors, through him that loved us: So that neither Death, nor Life, nor Angels, nor Principalities, nor Powers, nor things prefent, nor things to come, nor Height, nor Depth, nor any other Creature, fhall be able to feparate us from the Love of God, which is in Chrift Jefus our Lord.

This is that great Salvation, and this is the Fulness of the Bleffing of the Gospel of Chrift: of which the Prophets enquired, and fearched diligently; and which was preached unto us by the Apoftles of Chrift, with the Holy Ghoft fent down from Heaven; which things the Angels defire to look into.

a Afk now of the Days that are paft, which were before thee, fince the Day that God created Man upon the Earth; and afk from the one fide of the Heaven to the other, Whether there hath been any fuch thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it.

b Seeing then that all these things were for our fakes, what manner of Men ought we to be, in all holy Converfation, and Godlinefs ? For if we fin wilfully, after that we have received the Knowledge of the Truth, and turn away from him that speaketh from Heaven, there remaineth no more Sacrifice for Sins; but a certain fearful looking for of Judgment, and fiery Indignation.

Concerning ANGELS and SPIRITS.

GOOD ANGELS.

Here is an innumerable Company of Angels in Heaven; which excel in Strength, and, which are greater in Power, and Might, and Wisdom, and Goodness, than Men; who, in their First Eftate, were made a little lower than the Angels.

b This is God's Hoft; the Ministers of his, that do his Pleasure.

c Thefe are the Holy, Elect Angels, and Angels of Light, which stand round about the Throne of God; and, Michael, the Arch-angel, is the great Prince among them.

d In old Time, God fent his Angels unto Men, to commune with them; to inform them, and fhew them several Matters; to fignify to them, things which must come to pafs; and to teftify, that fuch things as had been told them before, were faithful and true.

Sometimes, they appeared in a Dream; in a Vifion of the Night, when deep Sleep falleth upon Men, and in Slumbrings upon the Bed. And, fometimes, they talked with Men Face to Face, and, their Appearance was as the Appearance of a Man, and, their Voice as a Man's Voice.

b The Children of Ifrael received the Law by the Difpofition of Angels; for, it was ordained by Angels, in the Hand of a Mediator.

e But, in thefe laft Days, hath God spoken unto us, by his Son: And, unto the Angels hath he not put into fubjection the World to come, whereof, the Lord, and they that heard him, fpeak to us. For, to which of the Angels faid he at any time, Sit on my Right Hand, till I make thine Enemies thy Foot-ftool?

d On the Day that Chrift our Saviour was born, there was a Multitude of the heavenly Host, praifing God, and faying, Glory to God in the Higheft, and on Earth Peace, Good Will towards Men.

e The Angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. God fhall give his Angels charge over them, to keep them in all their ways. The Lord, before whom they walk, will fend his Angel with them, and profper their way, and redeem them from all Evil.

a The Angels are all miniftring Spirits, fent forth to minifter for them, who fhall be Heirs of Salvation.

b There is Joy in the Prefence of the Angels of God, over a Sinner that repenteth; and when a good Man dieth, he shall be carried by the Angels into Abraham's Bofom.

Take heed, that ye defpife not one of thofe little ones which believe in Chrift: for, in Heaven, their Angels do always behold the Face of their Father, which is in Heaven.

d The Angel of the Lord ftandeth in the way, fer an Adverfary, againft him that goeth beyond the Word of the Lord his God.

e The Lord fendeth his Angels to deftroy Cities and Nations, when he is difpleafed with them; and to fmite him, who giveth not God the Glory of what he doth.

f At the end of the World, when the Son of Man fhall come in the Clouds, with great Power and Glory, then fhall he fend his Angels, and fhall gather together his Elect; and the Angels fhall come forth, and they fhall gather out of his Kingdom all things that offend, and them which do Iniquity; and they fhall fever the wicked from among the juft; and fhall caft them into the Furnace of Fire: there fhall be wailing and gnafhing of Teeth. But of that Day and Hour knoweth no Man, no not the Angels of Heaven.
