Thou glorious, high, and mighty Lord, On my right-hand! in anger fierce,. Shalt, with thy keen two-edged fword, The hearts of kings, withstanding, pierce, 6 Thou shalt among the nations judge,

7

And fill the world with bodies dead
Of murmurers, who fret and grudge;
And in all lands the ferpents tread:
Thou shalt achieve a glorious war, :
And feize a noble god-like prize,
And mount in thy triumphal car
To God, thy glory in the fkies.
The brook that runneth in the way

With drink and ftrength fhall thee fupply: Thy Godhead hall fupport thy clay,

Until thou lift thine head on high.

PSALM CXI.

And fing of them with joy and mirth,
And fearch them out in all the earth..

His work is finish'd, and replete

With majefty and glory great:

His everlasting righteousness

Refults in everlasting peace.

4 He hath his wondrous works and ways,
Made to be thought upon with praise;
The Lord is full of grace and truth, T
And hercy iffues from his mouth.

5 He gives his people food divine,
And makes their face with glory fhine:
For he is mindful of his love, i

His covenant, which fhall not move.
6 He hath his glorious pow'r difplay'd,..
And all his people joyful made

With works of love which he hath done,
That he might fave them ev'ry one:

7 His work is our inheritance;

His work alone he will enhance :

His works are truth and judgment fure; All his commandments fhall endure: 8 They stand for ever firm and true, 0 give him truth and glory due:

9 He fends redemption to his folk, r And faveth all his chofen flock.

His covenant fhall ever ftand,
Confirm'd and feal'd by his own hand
Meffiah's teftament is good,

Confirm'd and feal'd in his own blood.
Holy and Rev'rend is his name;
Let all the faints his praife proclaim:
Let all his hofts before him fear,
And, tremblingly, his name revere.

10 Wisdom's beginning is God's fear ;
Good understanding, pure and clear,
Have they who do his holy will;
Whofe work of praise endureth ftill.

PSALM

PSALM CXII.

THE Lord Emmanuel is, without all controverfy, the alone fubject of this Pfalm: for proof whereof, befides what has been faid upon Pfalmi, &c. the evidence is direct, and perfectly conclufive from 2 Cor. ix. 9, 10. where the apostle, from the example of Chrift Jefus, enforceth the obligation upon Chriftians to cheerfulness and liberality in almfgiving, faying,As it is written,' (in this Pfalm), he hath difperfed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteou nefs remaineth for ' ever,' &c. Thanks be unto God for his un• speakable gift!'

The Lord, the quick'ning Spirit, fees
Who comes the living fouls to free!
In Adam, now, we'll mourn no more;
The Lord from heav'n fhall all reftare

HIGH hallelujahs to our King!
Meffiah is the name we fing :
How bleft is he, and he's the man,
Who can Jehovah's judgments fcan!
He in Jehovah's law delights,
And therein all his foul unites;
And he tranfmits his righteoufnefs
Unto the children of his grace.

2 His feed, fo glorious on the earth,
Mighty, and noble, like their birth,....
Blefs'd in their royal. Father's love,
Shall claim their thrones with God above.
3 His houfe is full of wealth and store:
His righteoufnefs lafts evermore:
To thofe who love his righteoufnefs,
Light fhall arife in darkest cafe.
40 He's pitiful and gracious,
Compaffionate, and righteous:

5 He's good, and lends to great and fmall, Expecting no return at all.

He his affairs difcreetly guides,

6 And therefore evermore abides;
While, like his righteousness, his name
Is held in everlasting fame,

7 He fhall no evil tidings fear;

[ocr errors]

His heart is bent the Lord to hear:
His heart no evil shall forebode;
His heart is fixt, and trusts in God:
He fhall behold his own defire
On those against him who confpire;
Because they scorn'd Jehovah's ways,
And could not bear Meffiah's praile.
9 Meffiah hath difpers'd and giv'n,
Unto the poor, the goods of heav'n :
His righteoufnefs endureth ftill;
His horn with glory God thall fill.
10 The wicked fhall behold, and fee;
Shall fore afraid and grieved be;
Shall gnash his teeth, and melt away,
Like darkness at the morning-ray.

So perish all thine enemies,

When thou, O Lord our God, fhalt rife,
The Sun of Righteoufnefs, to fhine
With healing in thy wings divine!

PSALM CXIII.

SING, O barren, thou that did not bear; • break forth into finging, and cry aloud, thon that didit not travail with child: for more are ⚫ the children of the defolate, than the children of • the married wife, faith the Lord-For thy Ma •ker is thine Hufband-As the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, fo fhalf thy God rejoice

• over

⚫ over thee;'. Ifa. liv. Explained by the apostle, Gal. iv. 28, &c. Now, we brethren, as Ifaac was, are children of the promife-So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free-Stand faft, therefore in the li berty wherewith Chrift hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bendage.'-For the Lord our Redeemer, as it is written in this Pfalm, now fulfilling in his mercy to the church, gathered from all nations, maketh ⚫ the barren woman to keep houfe, and to be a ⚫ joyful mother of children. Praife ye the Lord."

Chant, chant aloud, O church, thy joy;
Let praife and love be thy employ;
Thy Lord, thy Hufband, makes thee fhine,
And reign with him in light divine!

YOUR hallelujahs ftill advance,

And praife Jehovah in the dance;
O ye, Jehovah's fervants, praife
And fing Jehovah's name always.
2 O blefs the Lord, and him adore,
From this time forth, for evermore,
From rifing of the morning fun
Unto his place of going down.

3 The Lord is to be praifed ftill;
And fo he fhall on Zion-hill.

4 The Lord's above all nations high;
His glory foars above the sky.

5 Who is like to the Lord our God,
Who dwelleth in his high abode?
6 Who humbly deigns himself to fee
The things on earth and heav'n that be.
▾ He raifes from the dust the poor,
And lifts the needy, where they low'r,
8 From dunghills; that he may them fet
With princes of his people great.
