Genealogical Account of the Family of CARPENTER, Earl of TYR

CONNEL.

THE

HE Right Honourable George Carpenter, Earl of Tyrconnel, Viscount Callingford, and Baron Carpenter, of Killaghy, in the county of Kilkenny, was born June 30, 1750; and married, in July 1772, Frances Manners, eldeft daughter of John, late Marquis of Granby, grandfather of his Grace the Duke of Rutland; by whom he had a ftill-born fon, April 21, 1773; another fon, born April 8, 1777. He was divorced, October 1777; and married, 2dly, June 1780, Mifs Huffey Delaval, daughter of the prefent Lord Delaval, by whom he has iflue John-George, born May 1782.

Defcent. The family is of great antiquity in the ounty of Hereford, and other parts of England. William Carpenter, of the Holme, or Homme, in the parifh of Dilwynne, near Weobley, in Herefordfhire, Efq. was his Lordship's direct anceftor, and died in the year 1520, from whom descended George Carpenter, who, in 1693, married Alice, daughter of William, the first Viscount Charlemont, relict of James Margetson, Efq. and, in 1718, was created Baron Carpenter, of Killaghy. He died Feb. 10, 1731, leaving iffue George, the ad Lord, who, in 1722, married Elizabeth, only daughter of David Petty, of London, Efq. by whom he had iffue Almeria, wife of Charles Wyndham, late Earl of Egremont. His Lordship died July 1749, and was fucceeded by his fon George, the third Earl, born in 1723; who, in March 1748, married Frances,
