1 By comparing what we were by 3 nature, with what we are 5 by grace, 10 he declareth, that we are made for good works; and 13 be

of our flesh, fulfilling 2 the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by s ture the children of wrath, even as others

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, ir his great love with which he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sirs, hath made us alive together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places, in Christ Jesus :

7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness towards us, through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved, through faith; and that not 3 of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not by works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God hath before 4 ordained that we should walk in them.

11 Wherefore remember, that ye be ing in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commor wealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now, in Christ Jesus, ye, who formerly were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances: to make in himself of two one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, having 5 by it slain the enmity:

17 And came and preached peace to you who were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have an access by one Spirit to the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more stranprepared.gers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together, groweth to a holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are built together, for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

CHAP. III.

5 The hidden mystery, 6 that the Gentiles should be saved, was made known to Paul by revelation: 8 and to him was that grace given, that 9 he should preach it. 13 He de sireth them not to faint for his tribulation, 14 and prayeth 19 that they may perceive the great love of Christ towards them,

THEREFORE, the prisoner 1 of the LORD, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation by which ye are called,

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the LORD, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

22 That ye put off concerning the

former manner of life the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts: 23 And be renewed in the Spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and 8 true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
