P R E F A C E.

T may not be improper to take notice, that there have already appeared two Plays, of which Scanderbeg was the

Hero ; but, as there was very little Merit in either of them, they met with no Regard from the Town, and therefore need not prevent the Publication of a third, which we believe deserves a better Fate.

The Hero of the first of these Plays, which was wrote by an Astor, has nothing to new him to be Scanderbeg but his Name. His other, and real Name of Castriot, is not once mentioned throughout the wbole Play ; nothing is said of bis Family, nor the unbappy Fortunes of all his Brothers ; no Reafon is given for his being at the Court of the Grand Signor ; none for the Grand Signor's Kindness to
