CHAP. VII. Divers opinions of Christ

4 T Now, about the midst of the st, Jesus went up into the temand taught.

5 And the Jews marvelled, sayHow knoweth this man letters, ing never learned ?

6 Jesus answered them, and 1, My doctrine is not mine, but that sent me.

7 If any man will do his will, shall know of the doctrine, wher it be of God, or whether I speak myself.

?

He that speaketh of himself, eth his own glory: but he that keth his glory that sent him, the e is true, and no unrighteoussis in him.

O Did not Moses give you the and yet none of you keepeth law? Why go ye about to kill

The people answered and Thou hast a devil: who goeth it to kill thee?

Jesus answered and said unto , I have done one work, and Il marvel.

Then cried Jesus in the tems he taught, saying, Ye both me, and ye know whence I and I am not come of myself, that sent me is true, whom ow not.

But I know him; for I am him, and he hath sent me.. Then they sought to take him: man laid hands on him, behis hour was not yet come. And many of the people beon him, and said, When cometh, will he do more mithan these which this man lone?

32 T The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him: and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent

me.

34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.

35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shal seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38 He that believeth on me, us the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive, for the Holy Ghost was not yet given, because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

42 Hath not the scripture snid, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

43 So there was a division among the people because of him.

44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees: and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

47 Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

48 Have any of the rulers, or of the Pharisees believed on him?

49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

50 Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

51 Doth our law judge any man before it hear him, and know what he doeth ?

52 They answered and said un

CHAP. VIII.

Of the adulterous Woman.

JESUS went unto the mount of

Olives:

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down and taught

them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery: and when they had set her in the midst,

4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with kis finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 I am one that bear witness of myself; and the Father that seat me, beareth witness of me.

19 Then said they unto him. Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me. ye should have known my Father also.

20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands en him, for his hour was not yet

come.

21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shal! seek me, and shall die in your sins whither I go, ye cannot come.

22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith Whither I go, ye cannot come.

23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from 7 So when they continued ask-above: ye are of this world; I am ing him, he lifted up himself, and not of this world. said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if y believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

25 Then said they unto him 9 And they which heard it, be-Who art thou? 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no

more.

26 I have many things to and to judge of you: but he tha sent me, is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.

27 They understood not that be spake to them of the Father.

28 Then said Jesus unto ther When ye have lifted up the Son man, then shall ye know that I ar he, and that I do nothing of self; but as my Father hath taugi 12 Then spake Jesus again un-me, I speak these things. to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither To: but ye cannot tell whence I ne, and whither I go.

29 And he that sent me is wri me: the Father hath not left m alone; for I do always those things that please him.

30 As he spake these words many believed on him.

31 Then said Jesus to thos Jews which believed on him, If continue in my word, then are r my disciples indeed;

32 And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me, of whom ye say, that he is your God.

55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and koop his saying.

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

A blind Man restored to Sight. AND as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from

his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

JOHN,

9 Some said, This is he; others | What did he to thee? how opened said, He is like him: but he said, he thine eyes? I am he.

10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus, made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash and I went and washed, and I received sight.

12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. 13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. 14 And it was the sabbath-day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath-day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said. He is a prophet.

18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.

19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? How then doth he now see?

20 His parents answered them and said, "We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.

22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.

27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

29 We know that God spake unto Moses; as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is..

30 The man answered and said unto them, Why, herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was bor blind.

33 If this man were not of God. he could do nothing.

34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thos believe on the Son of God?

36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe o him?

37 And Jesus said unto him. Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.

38 And he said, Lord, I believe And he worshipped him.

39 And Jesus said, For jude ment I am come into this work. that they which see not might see and that they which see, might be made blind."

40 And some of the Pharises which were with him heard the words, and said unto him, Are w blind also?

41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin but now ye say, We see; therefor your sin remaineth.
