HIGHWAYS OF HISTORY

Edited by
LOUISE CREIGHTON,
AUTHOR OF “A FIRST HISTORY OF ENGLAND,”

STORIES FROM ENGLISH HISTORY," ETC.

The aim of this series is to give consecutive treatment to certain important subjects in English History. A strictly chronological arrangement of history distracts the reader's attention from one subject to another. Though England's progress has to be studied by reading her history as a whole, yet clearness is gained on many points by a separate survey of some important line of advance. The treatment of the subjects in this series is adapted for the use of students who have already mastered the general outline of English History, but wish for more connected information with regard to some special point. Each part is complete in itself, and treats of its own subject without reference, except where necessary, to the general course of events.
