Editorial Notes.

The article by Supt. William E. Chancellor in the present number is worthy of careful study. The subject is one of growing importance. The need of sociological study on the part of teachers is becoming more generally recognized every day. Professional advancement is the watchword of this magazine.

Those who have followed the course in History and Principles of Education this year ought to have a comprehensive knowledge of Pestalozzi, especially his educational endeavors and ideas.

Attention is again called to the helpful character of Dr. Joyce's treatment of "The Human Mind in Relation to Education." It is a practical teacher's psychology, the value of which is too evident to need further argument.

The series treating of the History of Apperception will be continued in the May number.

The teacher or superintendent who aims to keep informed as to the movements in the educational world should read THE SCHOOL JOURNAL. The School Board number, especially, is replete with interesting matter. For March 2 it contains articles on "Principles of Correlation," "Rural School-Houses," "How to Make a Wireless Telegraph," besides notes on educational equipment, books and other supplies, law, etc. Every number in the month contains a careful presentation of the educational news, and a large portion of two numbers is devoted to Method and an Educational Review, respectively.

The leading articles of pedagogical import in the American and European magazines are interestingly summarized in the Review number, and the general drift of educational thought is clearly indicated from week to week in the editorial columns. Such meetings as that of the Department of Superintendence, at Chicago, are accorded a special number-that of March 9 in the current volume. Whatever thoughtful teachers are thinking and industrious teachers are doing, you will find it all in THE SCHOOL JOURNAL.
