Italy fhall have Civil Wars at this time, (betwixt the Guelfs and Gibellines.) Laodicea fhall be overthrown, the Thracians drove out of their Country, the Saracens or Arabians fhall invade Campania; Cyrnus and Sardo drowned by a Winter Storm; the Caramanian Kingdom Set up in Myfia: Carthage fhall not last long, (it was taken by the French.) Great Mifery will follow in Galatia, and Tenedos, Sicyon, and Corinth ball rejoice and lament equally. Phonicia, and all the Maritime Towns are deftroy'd (in the Holy War.) Crete shall fuffer much Burning and Slaughter (by the Ottoman Invasion.) Thrace fall fuffer by the Galate and Dardanidæ, (the Bulgarians joyning the Turks in Afia, against the Emperor) and afterwards Gog and Magog, (the Tartarian Princes) Marsag, Angon, Lycia, Myfia, Pamphylia, Lydia, the Moors, Ethiopians, Cappadocians, and Arabians, shall Submit (to the Turk.)

The barbarous Nation fhall conquer Greece, killing the third part of Men, (i. e, Men fit for War.) At this time there will be 1500 Years fince the Romans conquer'd Greece, but (the Turks) the wicked Nation must posseß it till the end of the World.

When the new King of Egypt fhall reign, being the Seventh of Greece, he shall conquer all Afia and Egypt, (this Prince is Selymus 1517) then will be the Reformation of Religion, when Image worship will fall: And there is a Caution given to the Reformers, against Covetoufneß, and that Wars, Tumults, Plagues, and Famines fhould fucceed. The Grecians fhall be drove out of their Country, and afterwards a long Peace. The preJent state of Europe is thus defcrib'd:

Thefe are the

Agyptian Prin-
Ees who invaded
Greece, or Gog
and Magog.

Et regem capiet Rex, terramq; auferret illi,
Et gens delebit gentem, populofq; dynastæ,
Mutabitque homines tellus.

The next thing to succeed is,

barbara totas

Græcorum pingues agros populata poteftas Tollet divitias. This is the Invafion of Macedonia by an Egyptian Prince, and after that Depredation a Sedition fhall happen in Greece, but thefe Miferies fhall end in a general Peace. Then God will find one from Heaven, who shall procure Peace by killing fome, and joyning others in League.

The Jews fhall flourish in much Riches and Princely power, and Ornaments; then the Gentile Princes hall invade Judea, and befiege Jerufalem, but God fall deftroy them in an extraordinary manner, by Fire from Heaven, and by War, and Hail, and the wild Beafts fhall feed on their Carcafes: then the Jews fhall live fecurely 700 Years, free from War, and in great plenty in the Millen

nium.

The young Bride will rejoyce (that is, the Church) because God inhabits in Her; and all Creatures will live in peace one with another; the Wolves and Lambs, the Bears and Calves; and the Lions will eat Grafs.

Thefe are the Signs of the End of the World: At the

end of the Millennium a Sword appearing in the Night, a Duft falling from Heaven, the Light of the Sun failing at Noon, the bloody colour of the Moon, fome Signs in the Stones, Armies of Horfe and Foot feen in the Clouds, with a Noife like that in the hunting of wild Beasts, Then the Sibyl defcribes her felf as coming from Babylon, and the Grecians will call her the Erythræan, mad

and

and falfe Sibyl, becaufe fece prophesied ill things of Greece; but they will be of another Opinion when thefe things come to paß. Erythra is a Town in Ionia.

UT of Sebaftia afterwards Belial fhall

come, and do many Wonders; he fhall raife an appearance of a high Mountain, and of the Sea, and of the Great fiery Sun, and of the fplendid Moon, and of the Dead. rifing, but thefe Wonders fhall be deceitful, and not real Miracles; he fhall delude many Men by them, both the Faithful and Ele&t Hebrews, and alfo wicked Men of the Gentiles, who had not heard the Word of God but when the Threats of the Great God fhall come, and the flaming River, like a Torrent, shall fall on the Earth, it fhall burn Belial, and all proud Men, who have believ'd in him.

Note, That Belial fignifies bomo perditus, and must be taken for a Succeffion of Saracen, Caliph, and Turkish Kings, who fixed themfelves in the Royal Cities, Damafcus, Babylon, Ferufalem, and the Turks at first in Sebaftia, when the Tartars drove them out of Perfia; the Greeks called Auguftus Sebaftos, and many Cities, as Sebaftia, were in cappadocia called fo from his Name. This is in Afia minor, and there is a Province in Egypt, called Auguftanica.

Mahomet was the Founder of this Empire, and he pretended to raise himself in three Days. He fays, he divided the Moon into two parts. Hippolytus, de Confummatione feculi, reckons thefe Miracles of Antichrift: Sentit eum Lepram & D 4

Para

Sebaftia, a Ci

Paralyfin curaturum, mortuos excitaturum, Damonas eje&urum, futura &abfentia denunciaturum, Montes tranflaturum, super Mare ambulaturum, Ignem de Calo deducturum, folem circumacturum, quocumque libuerit. The Sibylline Oracles make the Turk Antichrift, who embrac'd Mahomet's Doctrine, and Tyranny, and they call him the Little Horn. Their Prophecy concerning the Destruction of Antichrift cannot be taken from Daniel, or the Revelation, because Sebaftia is here mention'd, and the Magical Delufions of Mahomet, which are not in them.

And then the World shall be rul'd by the Hand of a Woman, believing her in all things; but when the fhall become a Widow, and govern all the World, and caft her Silver and Gold into the great Sea, and throw also her Brafs and Iron, fuch as fhort-liv'd Men ufe, into the Sea, then all the Elements of the World fhall become old, and cease; when God, who lives above, fhall roll up the Heavens, as a Book is rolled up, all the various parts of the Heavens fhall fall on the Earth and Sea; then a Cataract of pernicious Fire fhall continually flow down, and burn the Earth, the Sea, and the Heavens, and the Seafons (which are distinguish'd by them) and all the Crea tion fhall melt into one Lump, and fhall be collected into a pure mafs; there shall be no more the fmiling Globes of the Stars, nor Night, nor Morning, nor many Days of Care, nor Spring, nor Summer, nor Winter, nor Autumn; and then the Judgment

of

of the Great God fhall be reveal'd in the great Age, when all these things are done.

Note, The Woman here mention'd is the fame as in the Revelations, chap. 17, who shall rule in the West, whilft Antichrift tyrannizes in the Eaft; and therefore the Woman is not the Antichrift, but the Western Pope, represented first by a Woman, and at laft by a Widow. The Woman in the Revelations brags, that the is no Widow: She fhall unfortunately loofe her Riches, by_cafting them into the Sea; that is, by the Turkish Pyrates, difcrib'd in the eighth Book. And after the deftruction of Rome, the World fhall end, and be deftroy'd by Fire, and then shall be the laft Judg ment. All that is here mention'd about Antichrift and the Woman, belongs not to this Book, but to the fecond, where Belial is mention'd. The great Age is that which fucceeds the Millennium itself.

O the Navigable Waters, and all the Earth, where the Sun rifes and fets! all Things fhall obey him who comes into the World again; for the first World experienc'd his Strength and Power.

Note, This Prophecy fhews that all the Earth shall be renew'd by Chrift's Prayer, by which he made the firft World. And this is alfo out of its place, and belongs to the fecond Book.

Note farther, this Third Book with its Preface at the fecond Part of the second Book, ought to begin here.
