In his War with Aladin the Caramanian King, he took Iconium, Larenda, Amafia in Cappadocia, Sebaftia, Caftimana, and Pontus, Sinope, Defpotelis, Hierapolis, Mentefia, and in Armenia, Meliten; he beat the Egyptian Sultan, reftor'd the King of Bagdet, to Rivacan; he made War in Bofnia, and Walachia, and opprefs'd the Mahometan Princes in Afia minor; but Badjazet was beat by Tamerlane the Tartar, and taken Prifoner at Mount Stella, 1397, and was kept in an Iron Cage.

1399, Solyman fucceeded, and conquer'd Badjazet's Sons in Afia and Europe.

1404, Mahomet reign'd, who conquer'd Ifa and Mufa, in Afia and Europe, and the Caramanian King, and recover'd all the Provinces conquer'd by Tamerlane: He conquer'd Dacia, Macedonia, Sclavonia.

1416, Amurath the fecond was King, who fubdu'd the Prince of Smyrna, the Aidinian King; he took Theffalonica in 1432, and afterwards Ætolia, then beat the Prince of Athens; Photia and Baotia fubmitted, and all Greece to Corinth: He invaded Hungary, and Tranfylvania in 1440; Hunniades oppos'd him at Belgrade. He defeated the Christians at Varnas, and died in the Siege of Scanderbeg.

1450, Mahomet the Great beat the Caramanian King, then took Conftantinople, and turn'd St. Sophia into a Mofch, anno 1453: He then became the first Emperor of the Turks, conquer'd Peloponnefus and Trapezond: Lesbos was taken 1462, Chalcis in Eubea, an. 1470, Bofnia 1464, Caffa in the Taurica: Cherfonefus was taken from the Genoese, and the Tartars Pracopenfes and Deftenfes fubmitted to the Ottomans: He conquer'd Albania, made Incurfions into Dalmatia; Iftria, Carniola, Triuli, Scodra were furrender'd by the Venetians, anno 1478; he befieg'd Rhodes in vain, but took Otranto in Italy:" He deftroy'd the Temple and Images at Conftantinople, call'd the Crucifix the God of the Chriftians; three days the Soldiers kill'd,
