Young READER! you are now one year older than you were when we last addressed you in our annual notice : we hope you are wiser and better, for we should grow in wisdom and goodness as we grow in years. JESUS CHRIST did, and we should aim to be like him in all things.
We have now done with 1842, and anothera new year; is coming. We feel thankful to God that he has spared us to conduct this little Magazine another year; and we hope, under his blessing, to continue our exertions to promote your amusement, instruction, and improvement.
We should like those of you who are able, to send us your thoughts in writing, about anything that you think worth printing ; but let it be something good; and take pains to think well first, and when you write, write plain and neat. This exercise you will find very useful and
improving Those who send pieces, whether original or selected, which we approve, we shall present with Prizes.
Only, if the pieces are selected, always mention the name of the book from which they have been taken.
We shall still do our best to please and.edify you. We shall give more pictures ; and we also mean to improve the work in other ways, which you will see in the number for January, 1843.
