Jefus the Word, and John's Teftimony
of him.

N the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God. The fame was in the 3. beginning with God; all things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made, that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of 5. men. And the light fhineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man fent from God whofe 7. name was John. The fame came for a witnefs, to bear witnefs of the Light, that 3. all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was fent to bear witnefs of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every

come baptizing with water. And John John i. Atat. 30 bare record, faying, I faw the Spirit def-320. cending from heaven like a dove, and it abode with him. And I knew him not: 33. but he that fent me to baptize with wa ter the fame faid unto me, upon whom thou shalt fee the Spirit defcending and remaining on him, the fame is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghoft. And I 34. Saw, and bare record that this is the fon of God.

Again the next day after, John ftood 35. and two of his Difciples; and looking 36. upon Jefus as he walked, he faith behold the Lamb of God.

Jefus first known to Andrew and Peter.

HE two difciples that heard [Fobn] 37. fpeak followed Jefus. Then Jefus 48. turned and faw them following, and faith unto them, what Jeek ye? They faid unto him, Rabbi, (which is to fay, being interpreted, Mafter) where dwel-*left thou? He faith unto them, come 39. and fee. They cime and faw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the (a) tenth hour.

One of the two which heard John 40. Speak, and followed him, was Andrew Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and faith unto him, we have found the Meffiab, which
