VER. 5.

Ὃς δ ̓ ἂν τηρῇ αὐτοῦ τὸν λόγον, ἀληθῶς ἐν τούτῳ ἡ ἀγάπη τοῦ Θεοῦ τετελείωται· ἐν τούτῳ γινώσκομεν ὅτι ἐν αὐτῷ ἐσμεν.

a But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God bperfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments, ver. 3. And every man that hath this hope in him, purifieth himself even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness, is righteous even as he is righteous, 1 John iii. 37. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God, 9.

I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

Τίς ἐστιν ὁ ψεύστης, εἰ μὴ ὁ ἀρνούμενος ὅτι Ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ Χριστός; οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἀντίχριστος, ὁ ἀρνούμενος τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὸν υἱόν.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own : but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
