THE following chapters-with the exception of a few paragraphs, which have since been added-were published several years ago in a popular religious periodical. Many persons who read them when they first appeared, testified that they had done so with interest and profit. The writer has received numerous requests to send them forth in a more convenient and permanent form; and he has done so, for two reasons:-To gratify some whom he respects and loves; and to contribute his mite to the consolation and instruction of God's people.

HEAVEN A DISTINCT LOCALITY.

"O! talk to me of heaven! I love
To hear about my home above;
For there doth many a loved one dwell
In light and joy ineffable!

O! tell me how they shine and sing,
While every harp rings echoing,

And every glad and tearless eye
Beams like the bright sun gloriously:
Tell me of that victorious palm

Each hand in glory beareth;

Tell me of that celestial calm

Each face in glory weareth!"
